One Foot Judaism Retreat
ONLINE

Challenged by a Roman soldier to teach the entire Torah while the soldier stood on one foot, Hillel said, “What is hateful to you do not do to another, this is the entire Torah. All the rest (all of Judaism) is commentary” (Talmud, Shabbat 31a). Rooted in Hillel’s Torah and his definition of Judaism as commentary on living this Torah, One Foot Judaism is an open-hearted and fearless path of Jewish pride, joy, and celebration beyond racialized identity politics, denominational in-fighting, messianic fantasies, and tribalist loyalties.

Our seven-day multimedia retreat consists of six pre-recorded audio lessons exploring the basic teachings and practices of One Foot Judaism followed by an online or in-person Shabbaton with Rabbi Rami and Reb Frank Levy. Throughout the retreat, you will learn a values-based Judaism and a series of mitzvot (spiritual practices) translating those values into practices for tikkun nefesh and tikkun olam: healing self and the world in service to the well-being of both.

While One Foot Judaism draws on Jewish tradition and teachings, its message and call for healing of self and the world in service to the well-being of both is for everyone, and we invite you to join us on this path.

Participants receive the six recordings, transcripts of each recording, and a digital copy of our new book, One Foot Judaism: Hillel’s Revolution and Abaye’s Revelation.
